Trip Information:
- ACTIVITY
- All scouts should eat dinner before arrival or bring food with them for Friday night -- the Troop DOES NOT provide a meal for Friday night
- We'll be camping, hiking and backpacking in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains near Natural Bridge, Virginia in the George Washington National Forest.
- Older scouts (13+ and/or First Class and above) may choose to participate in the backpacking option and camping overnight on the trail. (*If your birthday is close and you would like to be considered for an exception, please speak to Mr. Flynn, Mr. Jastram or Mr. Berg). >>> Choose the "Trail Hike" option when registering
- Backpacking will require participants to carry all the necessary gear to camp overnight in an appropriate backpack. We will hike a total of 10-15 miles and will camp in the backcountry. Please speak to a leader if you need to borrow a backpack.
- Younger scouts (<13 and under First Class) may choose to particpate in multiple day hikes, while returning to base camp at night. >>> Choose the "Day Hike" option when registering
- Day Hiking participants will camp at a basecamp similar to our typical camping trips and participate in a 3 - 5 mile hike on Saturday and possibly a shorter (1 - 3 mile) hike on Sunday.
- FOOD
- All scouts should eat dinner before arrival or bring food with them for Friday night -- the Troop DOES NOT provide a meal for Friday night
- TBD will provide Saturday's Lunch at T. Brady Saunders and Sunday's Lunch at Camp Parsons
- TBD All other meals are patrol cooking (Sat. breakfast and dinner / Sun breakfast)
- UNIFORM/CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS
- Full Class A uniform for traveling to/from camp site (Scout pants or shorts, Class A uniform shirt, Scout socks and Scout belt, but no neckerchiefs or merit badge sashes)
- Synthetic Pants/Shorts and RED Class B Troop 800 T-Shirt is required for Saturday's activities. You DO NOT want to hike in jeans.
- If you do not already have a red Class B Troop 800 T-shirt, they are available for purchase in the Scout Office behind the church -- see any advisor for help
- If you need asisstance obtaining a uniform, please check the swap drawer in the Scout Office or ask Mr. Newman or Mr. Bright and we can help you
- We will be camping at Hooper Creek Campground near Natural Bridge, VA -- pay attention to the weather and plan/dress accordingly. We will be in the mountains, so plan for it to be a little cooler than you are used to.

I understand that participation in Scouting activities involves a certain degree of risk. I have carefully considered the risk involved and by submitting this electronic registration, I have given consent for myself or my child to participate in these activities. I understand that participation in these activities is entirely voluntary and requires participants to abide by applicable rules and standards of conduct. I release Scouting America, the Heart of Virginia Council, Bethel Baptist Church, the activity coordinators, and all employees, volunteers, related parties, or other organizations associated with the activity from any and all claims or liability arising out of this participation.
I approve the sharing of the information on this electronic registration with BSA volunteers and professionals who need to know of medical situations that might require special consideration for the safe conducting of Scouting activities.
In case of an emergency involving me or my child, I understand that every effort will be made to contact the individual listed as the emergency contact person. In the event that this person cannot be reached, permission is hereby given to the medical provider selected by the adult leader in charge to secure proper treatment, including hospitalization, anesthesia, surgery, or injections of medication for me or my child. Medical providers are authorized to disclose to the adult in charge examination findings, test results, and treatment provided for purposes of medical evaluation of the participant, follow-up and communication with the participant's parents or guardian, and/or determination of the participant's ability to continue in the program activities.
